“Morning” bather called in for the RA Summer selection

“Morning” has been called in to the Royal Academy for the second stage of the selection process for the forthcoming annual Summer Exhibition.

Andrew is drawn to the subjects of water and bathers, in particular because the light, layers and content can offer him the opportunity to represent these in a natural, understated manner.

In combining a restrained application of paint with the simple composition he hopes to reflect this in these works and to retain the integrity of the subject matter.

A selection of Andrew Holmes’ works in water is currently exhibiting with The Panter and Hall Gallery at the Affordable Art Fair in New York this week, previewing on the 25th March at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, running until March 29th 2015.

The show will also include some of the “dogs in water” pieces, (seen below), mentioned in the earlier blog post, Studies of Water.

More in the “in water” series are scheduled for a solo show later this year with a new gallery who already represents an impressive body of emerging and established Artists.

Andrew is currently working towards the show and we look forward to updating the blog with information about this soon.
