More recent Andrew Holmes paintings of bathers will be exhibiting with the Panter and Hall Gallery next week at the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea, London.
‘Generations’ is one piece in a collection Andrew has been developing since ‘boy bathing’. Working on a group of themed studies of figures in water, Andrew is using a limited palette, focusing on simple compositions while exploring the application of the medium onto wood panel or paper.
The images are derived from a variety of subjects observed in different locations, by interpreting the way the light interacts with water and a figure in a particular setting, the hope is for each painting to achieve a sense of it’s own place and time while still contributing to the group as a whole.

I love Andrew’s work. The paintings of people in water are my favorite. I must have overlooked him when making my list but he’s there now.
